Lisa is a Registered Nutritionist and academic leader with over 20 years of experience in nutrition research, education, and applied practice. She is the Head of the School of Health, Sport Science and Nutrition at Atlantic Technological University (ATU), Ireland and research lead for the Sport, Exercise and Nutrition group.
Lisa holds a degree in Nutritional Science, and a PhD in Nutritional Biochemistry from University College Cork and a a MSc in Applied Sport and Exercise Psychology from Sheffield University, UK. She has previously held senior positions at Oxford Brookes University, UK and Monash University, Australia. She co-founded the Irish Concussion Research Centre in 2018 and is currently leading six European-funded research projects.
Dr Ryan is also an accreditation assessor with the Association for Nutrition, lead of the NutriPD group, the Chair of Irish Nutrition Society, a leading member of the Míde ‘Women in Sport’ group and has worked as a sports nutritionist with rugby, hockey, GAA, AFL, and Olympic cycling teams.
