A study conducted by the University of Michigan found that most parents agree it is important to promote a healthy diet to their children, but only a third of parents felt confident that they were actually shaping healthy eating behaviors in their children. A challenge to getting kids to eat healthy foods is that families can be time crunched. Parents may look to convenience foods to make schedules work, but many convenience foods are high in sugar, fat, and calories and low in nutrients children need for growth and development. Industry should take notice of healthy convenience foods as a consumer need and a major business opportunity.
